I don't normally read much YA but I read this one for a challenge and ended up liking it. I read Gena Showalter's other series and I found her voice similar here (although obviously without the naughty bits). I found the characters likable and really wanted Aden to succeed and find happiness. And although the world was populated with some typical vamps and werewolves Aden, the boy with four other souls inside and him, and Mary Ann, the girl who seems to negate supernatural ability, made for some interesting twists to the typical paranormal world. I actually would have rated this 4 stars but a couple of things toward the end pushed my personal/political buttons and brought me out of the story. But that may be me being overly sensitive. So I'd do 3 1/2 if I could but I can't so 3 it is.
