4.5*s. This was my present to myself, on my last day of vacation there was no baking, cooking, cleaning, wrapping or company. Just me, a comfy chair and this book. And it was a really perfect way to spend the day. It's no surprise to read a charming and witty Julia Quinn book. Marcus and Honoria have a lovely story and while I sometimes love a wackadoodle romantic plot, other times I want the simplicity and realism of "the brother's best friend". They are both likable, warm characters and without a spy or a kidnapping in sight it would be believable for them to exist (and fall in love) in real life. Even the serious health battle Marcus faces begins as a mundane twisted ankle. Reading this book is like hearing the story of how two dear, and very witty, friends met and fell in love. What keeps it from 5*s for me is that next to some of my favorite JQ books I'm not sure this one will be as memorable. But it is lovely to visit the Bridgerton's world again and get an inside look at the famed Symthe-Smith musicale. And I look forward to visiting it again with the next one.
