This was a very good first entry in this series. Being the first in the series there's a bit of exposition and world building at the beginning that may get a little confusion. But just stick with it and it all makes sense once the action starts. I really liked all the main characters which made sticking with it very easy.Cady is an interesting heroine. She's not quite "normal", has a lot of power and has been on the run most of her life. In other words, she doesn't quite fit in anywhere. She's young but having been on her own for a long time she's pretty mature. She's a homeowner, part business owner and "mom" to an adorable hedgehog named Mr. Piggy.
Lon, single father and hunky love interest, and Jupe, his teenage son, are also great characters. Jupe is a rare teenage character in that he seems like a teenager without being overly broody. Sometimes he seems wise beyond his years and sometimes he acts like a kid. Just like most teenagers do. I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of May/December romances in general but Cady & Lon worked for me.
The ending is a bit over the top but it fit in with the characters and storyline so it worked for me. I'll definitely be looking for the next one.
